Noticed that Sonic Blue is selling DARs on ebay (not rebranded Dells if the picture is accurate). The product incudes the HOME PNA card for the PC. The buy it now price is $139, plus $7.99 in shipping plus taxes if applicable. There does not appear to be a reserve.

What I found interesting, was the description of the Rio Audio Software which "Allows you to choose from dozens of display screens to customize your Rio Receiver " Is this new software??

I also noticed this in the auction:
Item comes in a blue box.

The original units came in a 4-color box that was mainly purple. The Dell rebrands seems to be coming in plain brown boxes. Perhaps these are new units?

EDIT: Only one way to find out.

Rob - thanks for the EBAY link, I totally forgot to post it. fyi - The linked item has been sold, but there are several others on Ebay still available, although none at this point are buy it now.

I emailed Sonic Blue with to determine if the audio manager software has been updated. I also asked if the hardware being sold was new product or a liquidation of the remaining inventory. I will post the response when/if I receive it.

Is this new software??

If it is, it wasn't written by us. And there's nobody else in the company working on audio products, to the best of my knowledge.

So no, probably not.

They're also selling 50 Rio Riots with 20 GB Drives for $139 each. The funny thing is that the name Riot doesn't appear in the title of the auction ad but Rio Rio does. i think they forgot to put a [t] at the end of the last Rio...Oh well, good price, but it kinda bums me out. I spent twice as much for one that I still can't connect to my HSX-109 where all my MP3s are stored...I'm hopeful that a new HSX SW update will help solve that problem...

I received an email back from Sonic Blue on the items for sale on Ebay. The hardware and included software are exactly the same that they were selling a year ago at this time. They are just liquidating some inventory.

fyi - Tiger Direct indicates a possibility of international shipments, although you need to call them rather than placing an order over the web. Here is a link for international order info:

They should really fix the title of the auction if they want to sell any of these. It doesn't even come up if you search for rio riot.

I got my receiver toady. It is the same old Rio in the same retail box as before.

SonicBlue sent it UPS 3-day which was nice of them. Now I have to get a couple more.
