Now, I found myslef wondering why should I use an old tape voice recorder. What I want to buy is something that does the following: records in stereo, possibly high quality, stores files in its memory in some standard format (wave, mp3..), can be connected via USB to any pc and be recognized by Windows as a removable device, so that I can drag my recordings out of the device to my pc hdd. And, of course, it should be portable.

Now, does anybody has recommendations? I'd really appreciate them, because all I am finding are low quality/little memory (8mb?) devices, mainly meant to play mp3s...

Edit: Changed subject from digital voice to digital AUDIO, since I am not going to be recording voice only...

Funny, I was just thinking that, all I want to do, when I'm away for a week, in a fortnight, is record 2 maybe 3 hours of radio programmes in the night, to listen to on my lounger on the day.

You see a number on Amazon, but I'm not sure how good the functionality is. I'm not so bothered about an FM tuner, as I'll probably get a better signal from the headphone socket of the room radio/TV.

Question b, how many people who buy an AV receiver, really wanted an AV amp, because they get radio stations by cable, internet or satellite? The amps are a lot more high end than the receivers.

How about using a Hard Disk based mp3 player???

I think some of the iRiver (yea yea I know please don't start ) ones have both analogue and digital inputs and outputs, or maybe the Karma 2 will have that sort of thing built in? (any clues would be nice )

I was in fact thinking of something with that much capacity, or, alternatively, something using Smart Media, so that you can reach 3 Gbytes (and more, in the future) if you need to...

In the middle of the night, it struck me that this was one of the dumbest posts I'd made, in a history of dumb posts.
All I have to do is load Audiotools, DirectCut and Music Manager on to the spare office lap top (Breach of contract, but I do own the business) and I can leave the programmes set on the timer, edit them and download to the Karma before breakfast!
