Why not bittorrent? Why would you want to download via some terrible P2P program and get the file long after it's of any use to you? I don't even know what I keep Kazaa++ installed anymore.

decided to go the torrent route. To be honest I was a bit intimidated, not sure why. But everything seems to be working so far.

Yeah, it's a little weird to set up, but after that it becomes addictive. Plus I've gotten speeds of up to 230KB/s, and others here get faster connections.

wow. I can't get any good speeds. 20KB/s at most, but mostly 5 or 6. I've forwarded all the ports and stuff, but still crap for speed.

Plus I thnk whatever I did has completely screwed my connection. Everything is way slow now. I hate troubleshooting this stuff.

20KB/s is average for me on files with around 30 peers. 230 was my max, just something I was pointing out because I've never seen my machine get over about 15KB/s on Kazaa or other P2P clients.

Do you mean your network has slowed even when the torrent window is closed? If the torrent is going, it's not suprising.

As far as clients go, I'd suggest Shadow's Experimental, also called BitTornado, though others here have other programs they use. I just like that one for its simplicity, and I like having seperate windows for each download.

Keep in mind that your downloads will start slow, but will usually speed up as you get more that you're able to offer back out.
