I just wanted to thank Tony for this awesome piece of documentation. It's the second time I've used it - first time was to add a secondary 30GB onto my primary 30GB, and this time to transfer both onto a single 80GB after some weird sound glitching problems I'd started to encounter. Everything went without a hitch - tunes, playlists, dynamic data partition, config.ini. One question, though - why does it take so damn long to copy 30GB of fids from one disk to another??

You're quite welcome. Glad it worked out for you.

Copying files is slow because the IDE bus on the empeg is slow. You don't need a fast IDE bus for playing MP3s, so they didn't bother to make it scream.

Agreed, I used it a little while ago and it was very thorough. The only thing that I would add to it is that you should change your lens to a different colour to make it feel like you got a new lightsaber.
