Hey all,

I'm trying to do up a simple form for a survey our community is doing. All I need is the question followed by a text box that gets submitted to an email address. This is something I have been wanting to learn about for a long time now and I finally have a good reason to use it.

I have been doing some digging and I have written my first CGI script ( www.conneriver.com/cgi-bin/first.cgi ) which works according to plan. I have been going through the tutorial I found at www.cgi101.com. However I need to get this published to the web in the next 5 hours and I fear that by going through the tutorial I will just get hung up for too long.

So my question is this: Does anyone have a cgi script and a simple form that I could look at to figure out how to make it fit our needs? Any tips/pointers/other useful information would be greatly appreciated as this is something that I would like to know more about.

Thanks!
Rene

a customer of mine pointed me to this site once that does what you want... sure, you won't get the benefit of Doing It Yourself, but this site does exactly what you describe
www.response-o-matic.com
just create your form on your site, add the hidden configuration variables, and point the action to the response-o-matic script, and there ya go.

Thanks for the link.

I did however find a cgi script that did what I wanted... http://scripts.cgi101.com/freebies/mail-form.txt

I now have a simple form up and it emailed me the information i typed. Quite please right now... next step is to make the survery site pretty.

Thanks!

I have had great success with this script. Works very well, is secure, and is VERY configurable. It also doesn't rely on a service. I use it at work for our automated work-order form as well as on several other sites I've made.
