I think this started happening after I installed the latest Hijack - I've had a look in the FAQs but can't see an obvious solution (w/r/t Hijack). I just got to the pause button in time before I woke everyone in the road up the other morning :-)

Do you mean that you can't find a relevant FAQ entry, or do you mean that you've found the relevant FAQ entry but you don't think its solutions are obvious?

No, I found the relevant FAQ entry, but Hijack (372) wasn't forcing the power profile and I was ruling out simultaneous hardware failure (say, of the switch in the AC adaptor socket) as too much of a coincidence. I guess I can only test this by reinstalling an unHijacked image?

Notice the mention in there about a diode or 74LVX04 (IC33) that may have gotten fried.

I really really hope it's not that. My hands aren't steady enough for soldering - I found that out after destroying an Xbox...

If you believe that the hijack version is what caused the failure, then definitely roll back to the earlier hijack version and see if the problem goes away.

And yes, you can completely remove hijack by either installing the non-hijack kernel image (Mark has a copy at his site), or doing a full installation of 2.0.

Bad call, chief. The AC adaptor plug thing happens often enough that it's certainly feasible that it happened at or around the same time. But flash down to a previous Hijack to be sure.

One other thing to try. See if setting hijack's force AC/DC parameter to "No-loopback" takes care of the problem. If it does, then let us know and I'll amend the FAQ entry to include this.

OK, I tried out with the loopback option set in Hijack and no joy unfortunately. One thing it *does* do with this set is to put the empeg in standby when I turn the ignition off, which didn't happen before. I'll remove hijack and see what happens...
