This is my first alpha install so please take it easy on me.

I've installed v3A7 using the Rio Upgrade Wizard, after replacing emplode with the alpha version 2.10 (I renamed the old emplode and put the two new files in its place in my c:\Program Files\Rio\emplode folder). That seemed to work, the player boots up to A7 no problem.

The problem comes when I run emplode (the version from the Alpha download site). When I try to sync after making changes emplode exits with extreme prejudice. Someimes this leaves the empeg 'synchronizing', sometimes not.

"Synchronize failed while restarting the player. An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine. (error 0x80072745)"

The empeg reboots and I'm returned to emplode (doesn't crash).

Any ideas what I've done wrong? The Readme.txt says:

You should install the new emplode before installing this release. If you fail to do so your empeg-car unit may not function and it will be necessary to apply the upgrade again using the correct version of empegUpgrade or upgclient.

I'm thinking that I can't apply the alpha from a windows platform?

I went from v2 final and had this problem to start with.

I did a sync with the latest version of jEmplode and everything works fine now. Not sure what the problem is but I can add tunes etc... with no problems in emplode now

I'm really guessing here, but....
These builds are pretty much directly off the karma source. Which would explain, I guess, why I can't sync my empeg over ethernet. I have to use USB to get a sync to complete.

I'm hoping, it’s the same bug that is causing the karma to timeout during ethernet syncs.

Either way, try syncing again with emplode 2.10 via USB.
Let us know if it works.

I'll give USB a try. Just using jEmplode didn't work (meaning emplode still crashed after syncing with jEmplode).

My databases kept having to be rebuilt after power interruptions, so I've removed TTSClock and eliminated the reservecache=20 statement in my config.ini and the databases seem to stick. This is an original MKII with 12MB.

Bah. I just tried USB and emplode crashed out. My only change to the database is adding a '.' to one song's comments tag.

jEmplode refuses to see the USB connection (ver.54), only the Ethernet connection.

I did sync once successfully with Jemplode (but not a 2nd time). After the successful jEmplode sync, I got the message:

'There wasn't a file with FID=2 on this device'

I'm syncing with jEmplode now, and it's doing a media check, so it'll be a while...

USB and Ethernet syncs containing file changes both crash emplode 2.10. jEmplode syncs over ethernet but not USB. Ethernet works as expected - I uploaded some .ogg files (Tenacious D) and it all went fine.

So, what have I gotten wrong with Emplode 2.10?

Nothing. Emplode 2.10 has problems. Use Jemplode or Emplode 2.0.

Yeah I got this too when syncing in jemplode. Other than that, I don't seem to have any other issues.
