Any good ones?

For years I thought CCR were singing "theres a bathroom on the right"! (should be a bad moon)

And the Police sang "Sue Lawley" and not "so lonley"

Even now I know the right words I can't help singing it wrong!

Hmm:

The Hermans Hermits song "A must to avoid".
On the first line of the song they were thought by some to be singing:

"She's a muscular boy"

Rather than the actual line which is:

"She's a must to avoid".

I recall this being mentioned in a program on the BBC World Service Radio about 6-8 years back about this particular song being used by UK brain researchers who were studying how the brain functions by using songs like this where the lyrics are commonly misheard by a percentage of the population.

The researcher said at the time that it gave them some very useful [read: "cheap to get"] information on how the brain turns sound into "speech" without needing to use [expensive/time consuming] CAT or MR scans.

The researcher did say what the official term for this "mishearing of lyrics" was, but I can't recall what it was now, but yes, some boffins really did and probably still do, study this.

"Cut loose like a deuce another runner in the night."
"Wrapped up like a douche in the middle of the night."

"Pays my tickets when I speed"
"Plays my chicken when I speed"

"Kyrie eleison, down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison, through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison, where I'm going will you follow
Kyrie eleison, on a highway in the light"
"Carry a laser, down the road that I must travel
Carry a laser through the darkness of the night
Carry a laser, where I'm going will you follow
Carry a laser, on a highway in the light"

"Jeux sans frontieres"
"She's so funky, yeah"

"You don't need a penny just to hang around"
"You don't need a pin-head, just to hang around"

I guess I'm a little slow sometimes!

Garth Brooks-
Instead of "I'm Shameless"
I hear "I'm Shavin", which actually improved the song!

Shawn Colvin-
On "Set the Prairie on Fire"
instead of "How far will it go" I heard
"I fart and let it go", which still cracks me up for some childish reason.

In the spirit of true confessions I'll admit to this last one, but please be gentle: On the "Gummy Bears" theme song when I was young I (as well as my sister) heard "High adventures beyond compare" as "I can see their underwear"

Even though I KNOW it's not the correct phrase, every time I listen to Slipknot's "Liberate", all I can hear is....

"Liberate....Bananas, I just want to liberate....bananas..."

Naw, it's:
"Do you like...bananas? ... Do you like... bananas?"

I can't help but hear that.

When John Fogerty sings "Bad Moon" on the Premonition album, I swear he throws in a "bathroom on the right" at the end...

Damn, and I was all excited that it was actually "right" and not "white". Shcuks, thought I'd just gained a little bit of trivia knowledge. You sure on that?

Two mondegreens in one post.

The correct lyric is "play that funky music white boy".

And to clarify, it's only after that that he says "Play that funky music right." In other words:

"Play that funky music white boy
Play that funky music right
Play that funky music white boy
Lay down that boogie and play that funky music till you die"

I also find it humorous that the "lyrics site" I found these at (just to be absolutely certain I got it right), credits the song to James Brown

Macy Gray - always thought she sang 'I wear goggles when you are not near' instead of 'My world crumbles when you are not near'.
