Under my mother's profile on her computer, the Autorun ability of the CD-ROM drive has magically stopped working. Now, when I log my own profile on that machine, Autorun does work.

So, what could have caused this, and how might I be able to re-enable Autorun under her profile? I have looked in the hardware properties for the CD-ROM drive, and the option doesn't appear anywhere.

I only ask because this machine is loaded with games that my 9-year-old brother plays frequently, many of which require the CD to run anyway.

You can toggle it on and off with the TweakUI tool in Microsoft PowerToys

Some CD writer software turns it off I believe? Or it could just be standard Windows weirdness

That particular machine no longer has a CD burner or burning software installed. I wiped the HD clean and started from scratch before I gave it to her. So I think I'll just chalk it up under "quirks."
