I think I'd be sent packing if I had to sing Beatles songs, too. But I guess it does separate the wannabes from the real fans.

The Daily Telegraph gave examples of the questions, and the immigration officials didn't get them all right, either: What was the Beatles last album? - I can't remember the other wrong question.

I thought it was pretty stupid that they'd miss questions like "which members are still alive?" until they mentioned that they weren't coming for the Beatles, but for some Brazillian bands. I find that strange that you'd go all that way to hear bands from your own country, but whatever.

I think they were picked because certain countries have a high rate of absconding. At a recent major sporting event a 50-strong team was sent from a central African country and only half of them turned up to the plane home. For another event I heard that some competitors were asked to lodge a bond before being issued Visas.
