I tried to transfer 50MB via ftp to my /programs0. After 6 MB is aborts with an "internal error". So my general question: Isn't it possible to transfer any file to the empeg? I only want to use it as a portable harddisk.

I'm pretty sure programs0 is only 16 or 32 megabytes minus filesystem overhead. I'm guessing you also have other stuff already there?

I just use /drive0 or /drive1 for big files. Just make sure you correctly mount read only when you're done.

Yup, Shonky is right. If you want to store big files, it has to go on one of the music partitions.

I regularly use /drive0 to taxi files much larger than 50mb between home and work.

Yes, works. Thank you. I should get an df on the empeg :-).

I do actually have df on my developer version empeg (which you'll need anyway) - it came with it, I didn't add it. I think it used to work. However it now says "df: cannot read table of mounted filesystems: No such file or directory". Dunno what that means exactly.

I figure I'll worry about it when disc space starts getting low. I know I have about 20Gb free but I don't know how it's spread across the drives

Edit : It appears to be something to do with /etc/fstab or possibly a non existent /etc/mtab.

I am sure that an easy (as in defining an alias or something) workaround exists (I use it, but don't have my empeg handy, and can't remember what it was exactly). I think this was discussed several times, so serach a bit...

Hm, I think that it boiled down to df working if given a single device (or was it mountpoint) as parameter, and those, in turn, can be gleaned from /etc/something-or-other. So, a bit of grepping etc would probable do...

Sorry for not being more helpful...

all you have to do is do a "df ." while in the partition. it will give the error, but will also output the free space. thats what i've been doing, at least.

It's complaining because it can't find /etc/mtab.
