I don't think that this is a bug and I can't find it in the FAQ:

In the past, I've added genres in the preferences box, and they show up, both in the playlist view and in the list of genres, over and above the set, listed genres: For instance, P.G. Wodehouse is one of my favourite authors, so I entered "Wodehouse" in the genres box, for all the talking books - no problem.

Yesterday, I re-jigged my whole playlist structure - so that people wouldn't laugh at me when I got to Amersfoort, using Wendy functions for the first time, to tidy up, I added a couple of genres, but this time, they show up on the playlist, but haven't been added to the list of genres.

Is it a change in the software, or have I just plain forgotten the correct procedure from when I first got the player?

I wonder if you have to be certain to tag tunes with a genre tag rather than just the playlist that contains them.

I think that if you do a "search" on the player "by genre" it will only search for tunes with that tag, not for playlists.

I could be wrong.

Anyway, the way to make sure is to multiple-select all the tunes in that playlist and change the genre of the tune instead of the playlist.
