Hello !
I am doing some inferfaces which should control the empeg via the serial port.
At
http://www.riocar.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=Developer_Info&file=index&myfaq=yes&id_cat=9&categories=The+Empeg+Player+App#25
i found a description how to control the empeg, but this semms to be outdated ???!!!
I have Mk1, 2.00 beta 13 hijacked.
Now the problems:
F : should do a fast forward. it does, but how to stop the fast forward and let is play again ???
the same about 'B', 'f' and 'b'.
'm' : sound go in menu. it does. then 'n' and 'p' shound let u go left and right in the menu. this does not work too.
in tuner mode '.' and ';' shoud do up and down tunig, it does not work too.
is there a up to date description how to do it ot is something wrong with my empeg ??

No on both. There's no more up to date description, and no, there's nothing wrong with your empeg. Use space to stop the fast-forward.

IT DOES NOT WORK.
Chill. It's only software. Give me another 20 minutes, and I'll have something up on my website describing the serial commands in detail.

From the time stamp on your website it took you 25 minutes (closer to 26 actually). THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

OK. Stopping the fast forward now works with 'A'. OK. But the ';' and '.' keys did not work. ; or . sets the radio frequency to 87.5MHz. nothing else.
How do u explain this ??
Empeh make 1, region setting is europe.

Not a lot. There's nothing obvious in the code to suggest why it's not working. I wonder if it's actually supposed to work on mk1 players.

Can someone else confirm/deny that the tuner commands work? In particular on both mk1 and mk2 players? I don't have a tuner, so I couldn't test those. I did check most of the others.

Hi Roger,
I just checked this out on my Tuner [which is n the house to aid testing].
It works as PKi described, i.e. ; and . goto 87.5 and nowhere else no matter where you are (AM or FM).
I note that 0-9 in Tuner mode goto Preset N within current preset bank)
Edit: #1 Oh yeah I have a Mark2 running 2.0 Final and Hijack 325
Edit: #2 The . and ; commands in AM mode go to the lowest AM frequency for your location [i.e. 522Khz for "European" (9Khz steps) areas].

Roger,
just tested with a MK1. The tuner . and ; commands don't appear to do anything (I stay on the same frequency I am on), but if I am tuned to a preset (A4 for example) then issuing either of those commands appears to move it off preset (only A displayed) but the frequency displayed doesn't change. I only tested on FM, I can retest on AM if it helps.
I also tried all the other commands (except the misc ones) and they all work with the exception of loudness up. loudness down works fine though.
Tests done with V2.00Final, no HiJack

Now there is the next problem coming up. With HiJack installed (over the 2.00 final) the feature of controlling the empeg via serial COMPLETLY DOESNT WORK !
Not at DC, not at AC, not at 115k, not at 4k8. Not setting in the config.ini notify=1, supress... car_rate....

Mmm.. works fine for me here.
But do note that the past 20 or so Hijack versions have been deliberately disabling the player's use of the serial port in DC/Car mode ONLY. This is to make things easier for GPSapp and similar add-ons.
Not perfect, and I know it breaks things for two or three people, so we'll do something better about it eventually.
Cheers

The tuner . and ; commands don't appear to do anything
I ran this one past Toby last week, and he thinks that he's fixed it. It'll be in the next 2.0 release, if there is one (v2.01?).

Thanks,
And to be honest it is not a problem for me, as I don't control any of mine using serial, it's just I happened to have the MK1 on the desk connected via serial at the time, so I thought I would test them out for you.

I suppose we ought to have Hijack take over the serial port too, and allow *any* buttons to be fed in via that route..

Hi Mark !
Can u modify the next hijack version so i can set it in the config file if the hijack takes control of the serial port ot dont touch it ?
And what about the tuner commands ? can u fix it so that '.' and ',' can be used to tune frequency ??
Talking about 2.0 final now... ;-)

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting to do this.
Part of the reason is that Hijack doesn't read the config file until AFTER the player has started, and by then it's too late. But we'll have to work it out somehow..
Cheers
