A guy from US DOJ testified during a recent Congressional hearing that illegal copying of music, movies and SW was used to fund terrorism. (See here.)

I find this unsettling for two reasons: first, it is amazing what a third-rate industry group's money like that of RIAA can buy in Washington these days. Even worse: if terrorism can be invented just like that where there is clearly none for the benefit of RIAA, can you imagine what aerospace or oil industry is doing? Makes one start believing most absurd conspiracy theories....

(Thanks to people enquiring about me. I am alive, well, and, I hope, back . There was nothing wrong, I was just very busy and barely found time to occasionally browse my favourite BBS headings.)

Cheers!

Wow that is scary.Didn't the RIAA try to get a law passed that allowed them to search people's computers for illegal files right after Sept. 11th? My memory is fuzzy on that one... This is just as bad as those new anti-drug commericals. Apparently smoking weed also gets your car high and he gets a little absent minded and forgets to deploy the airbags.

No. They tried to get a law passed saying that they could maliciously hack into your computer if they thought you had ``illegal'' music.

I think I must have used a buggy version of Marlin on them, but I was surprised the other day when all my Stone Roses tracks came up in "Genre: Terror". To think I've been unwittingly supporting terror all these years! And that Ian Brown tried to burn an English flag on stage at Glastonbury last year[1]... it all starts to add up...

Dragi!

Welcome back. It's been a long time, and I, for one, have missed you.
