Within the last few years when people ask me what kind of music I like, I refer to myself as an English Rock whore. Living in the States it is rare to hear of many UK bands here so I wanted to extend request to the UK dwellers on some of their favorite UK bands. My list of favorites include

    Gomez
    Radiohead
    Oasis
    Manic Street Preachers
    The Clash
    The Verve
    Coldplay
    The Doves
    Travis

any others I should check out?

I wouldn't call Garbage a UK Band. Butch Vig, at least, is not from the UK, and according to AMG the band was formed in Wisconsin

they formed in Madison, Wisconsin. I think all of them, except Shirley, are from there.

Lynyrd is a pretty good band. I'd also have to say that I am partial to Alabama. I don't think I've ever heard a better French musical group.

I like a lot of those bands, and was in ahead of my daughter and her friends on Gomez.

If you want a further flavour for British Groups, you could try some of the BBC DJ's on 1,2 & 6 here. I'm thinking particularly of John Peel and Bob Harris, but others may appeal to you more.

Hiya, here's some more for you to check out (in general order of "raucousness" top to bottom) ……… and yes, I know raucousness isn't a word

- Idlewild
- Feeder
- Chemical Brothers
- Faithless
- Dreadzone
- Orbital
- Lamb
- Kosheen

Enjoy...... Cheers, Sim

Puressence
