I'm lookin at my empeg and wondering where the IR reciever is. There are two items on the RHS that look like they could be the top one is silver with a dark (lens?) that could be it or the little double bump thing to the right of that and lower?

Silver square with lens is the consumer IR receiver (for the remote control). That's the one that's used by the player right now. The double bump is the IRDA transceiver, not used in the current software, but there are third party projects that make use of it.
