Use JEpmlode I was under the impression that I could use my empeg as a file taxi.
But the transfer rates are dog slow. I'm transfering over USB from a win2k PC and it works fine when transfering MP3s but when moving anything else it loses the U and the B and drops to serial speed.

Help!

U and B are "Universal" and "Bus". The latter just means other devices can be connected. The former means "available everywhere". Neither means "fast". Does it really lose "U" and "B"? I doubt it.

Can you make Ethernet work for you?

If you can, you don't even need Jemplode, you can just use your player as an FTP site. Ever since Hijack came out with the FTP server capability, I've been using a batch file to taxi stuff between home and work.

Besides, ethernet is faster for synchs, too.

Years of "Simpsons" sprinkled with "Family Guy" and other things have desensitized me to lame attempts at humor.

Even if you have no hub, an ethernet card and a crossover cable would be good to get (and costs about $20 total), you'll notice a dramatic speedup.

Sorry dbrashear, I'll make more of an effort next time
What I was trying to get at was that the speeds I was getting were the equivelent of serial speeds (or the remaining letter S).
What bothers my is that I have no problem transfering Mp3, it is just non Mp3 files.

I will look into either adding an extra ethernet card to my work PC to facilitate this, and FTPing. But this does not explain why USB works fine for Mp3 but not for anything else.

jEmplode's USB support is "experimental" in the sense that it was written over a weekend and pretty much never touched again. I definitely recommend Ethernet -- then you can either use jEmplode or Hijack FTP.
