The fact that so many people are going to show up to the Bay Area mini-meet, and that it was organized in such a quick amount of time, brought up a couple questions: Why don't the BA people hang out more often? I know a few have become friends because of the board, but what about the rest? Maybe, at least going out to dinner once a month, or once every other month, etc.

I think mostly because despite all being in the Bay Area, most of us live in distant cities... so meeting up is a small hassle. I don't know about anyone else, and no offense to you guys intended, but at this point in my life my free time is ludicrously slim, and that time is either spent with my Sig Other or doing a personal project. Hell, i barely have time to hang out with my close friends anymore! I need a new job... =]

I dunno for me there always that kinda weird aqward firt time impression of meeting someone from online. Im not saything that any of you guys are bad people. That and i dont have much free time as well. Loren and i tried to get together for awhile, but never happened. He still owes me lunch too. hehe

You're right. . . i do. And now that the Ranch has re-opened for lunch, you'll have to take me up on that offer.

tonight at 7:30pm at the Stinking Rose. We already had a head count. Post in there if you're coming so i can update the place if there's more people coming.

Yeah, I can see the distance being a slight problem, although most of us live within an hour of each other, and having the free time is always a problem. I guess I tend to have more free time than others because I'm single. Anyway, it was just a thought. Everyone here seems to get along, so I figured it'd be nice to meet in person more often instead of always hiding behind the computer.

Hey, I completely understand the awkward feeling. I guess it's a little different for me though, because a few of my current best friends where ones I met back in the local BBS day's before I ever met them in person (and then found out they live just a few blocks from me ), so in a way, I'm used to it, I guess. Well, even so, it is still a little weird, but at least we have something to instantly break the ice, we all own an Empeg. Just having that to talk about right off the bat tends to make things go a little smoother.
