ouch... i just really hosed up my unit. rather than trying to figure out what i did, what is the easiest way to erase everything and resetting it to the state it was when shipped? hope there is something reasonably simple...

thanks

Yes, you have to open a terminal session and hit return to proceed from that point.

I never like to hear posts one day about problems with jEmplode followed the next day by "i've really hosed my unit".

well... i wish i would have known about the terminal part yesterday because i went through the process several times flawlessly... today when i tried it, i was able to get through the flash programming, but the RIO just started making clicking noises (i assume from the drive) when trying to select the pump partition. finally, it culminated with a "bad pump response in section 25"

how deep in it am i?

thx

are you using jEmplode to upgrade? incidentally, the drive on one of my Empegs clicks too ... no idea what it is. seems to be working still though (it's been doing this for a while)

man you guys are quick... i've actually been using EMPLODE to upgrade. however, i said what the hell.. and opened up the RIO and pulled the drive bay out, and reseated the cables. guess what... looks like it's upgrading now. weird coincidence?? who knows. we'll see how it all pans out after i put the drive bay in.

thanks for all the help from everyone... did i ever mentioned what a cool crew of people are on this board?

Greetings!

I had this happen to me yesterday when I was working with a player. I re-applied the builder, reloaded the software and it worked fine. I do not know a "root cause" though.

Jesus, people, an entire thread and you never linked TedP to the FAQ entry on disk trouble or the Drive Upgrade Guide...
