Could someone who understands the parameters for creating a custom shuffle mode in config.ini show me how to make a shuffle that would move the most recently added music to the "front of the line" when shuffling playlist or the entire player?. Also a custom shuffle that would place songs that are newest by year 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, etc.. to the front of the playlist.

Or better yet, explain to me how the parameters work so that I can configure my own shuffles and give me an example so I can get started. Thanks in advance..

shuffleX=By Year (Newest),YEAR=32768,RANDOM=1

Replace the X with the proper custom shuffle number, IE: shuffle0 for your first custom shuffle etc...

Pardon my complete ignorance, but where did the YEAR=32768 come from and what does it do? Also, do custom shuffles interfere with currently available shuffles as far as numbering (ie, shuffle=X)? Additionally, I assume that RANDOM=1 places the most emphasis on "Newest" being at the front of the shuffle whereas, RANDOM=35 would spread them a bit more thin? Lastly, how do I name my custom shuffle?

BTW, I have read the FAQ on this I just didn't understand how to properly "weight" the shuffle to make what I want appear at the front.

Ummm... wouldn't it be a lot easier to just go to the "Shuffle" menu already in the player and select "Newest Additions"?

This is a recent addition (2.0b13, I think, although it might have been in b11) so if you are not running one of the later software releases you may not have been aware of this option.

On a related note I would love to be able to do a shuffle biased towards songs with the least plays and the least skips. Basically all the songs that have come up the least times regardless of whether I actually listened to them previously. Am I right in thinking that there is no way to do this because the skips counter isn't currently implemented? Or did that get fixed at some point?

You can shuffle by most played, and least played. But the skip track counter isn't used yet.

This should shuffle by most played song.
shuffle0=Favorites,PLAYS=-32000,RANDOM=1

Edit, i would think this would shuffle by least played
shuffle0=Least Favorites,PLAYS=32000,RANDOM=1

I hadn't actually vistited the shuffle options in 2.0b13 yet. I guess I just thought they hadn't changed. Anyway, a shuffle for newest additions is exactly what I'm looking for but it sounds like it may not work according to a previous post in this thread. I'll try it anyway and see for myself.

It works for me, I've used it several times. I tried it again just now as I am typing this, and it worked perfectly. It even skips the playlists marked as "Ignore as Child."
