I would like to know how to wire it to the wire adapter I have... I tried just matching the colors but id did not turn on! I used the YELLOW, ORANGE, BLUE, BLACK but nothing happened, so I would like to know if I have to use other wires or just those 4 and which color to match them to

You have to assume colors mean nothing. It's nice if they match up, but don't expect them to. Get the wiring harness for your civic, then read the diagram and match up constant(memory)/switched/dimmer/ground. I'm sure there's a good FAQ reference here that I'm too lazy to point you to. Just read the whole thing :-)

Compare the empeg's wiring diagram to this diagram for Hondas. I don't believe they've changed their color scheme in quite a long time. I've had an 89, 91, and now a 98 Civic and they've all matched.

BTW, you might have better luck searching/posting in the Installation forum.

When I got a new headunit in 2000 for my 99 civic, the correct harness wasnt availiable, so I had to just splice up everything and make sense of it from the manuals and trial and error with a voltage tester. I would suggest that if you can find a harness use it, if not get a voltage tester and just cut up the wires. My riocar is currently installed with wires and no harness. I still cant get the illumination to work though.

Check fuses inside and under the hood. In my model black was ground, red was +12, think yellow was always on +12 , I dont remember orange though.

By this do you mean dimmer? The dimmer function works perfectly in my 98 Civic. There wasn't much changed from 98 to 99.

As I mentioned before, Honda hasn't changed their wiring color scheme in quite a while. I believe the table I linked to is correct.

That is weird. But at least I know we're talking about the same thing. You didn't, by some odd chance, forget to perhaps, actually change the dimmer setting, now, did you? If not, then I don't know what could be causing your problem.

Make sure you read the FAQ on how to set the dimmer. It's so simple it can be confusing....

I think i followed the procedure in the faq correctly. It didnt really bother me, I like having the display at 100 % all the time, and after the capacitor fix it doesnt act strangely. The only time the 100 % bothers me at night is when you set it to a visual like tripping prisoner and then you realize how bright it is.
