Is it me or is this a little higher than we've been seeing lately?

Well, considering 18GB Mk2 players went for $1599 back in the day, a 60GB for a touch over $1000 doesn't seem too bad. Yeah, they've been cheaper recently, but maybe someone has a Christmas gift in mind and went a little over market value...

From the description

>>Take it when you travel, so you'll have your own music in your hotel

Hmmm - no mention of needing an amp and speakers, or small headphones

To the guy's credit, that was a very slickly-done auction page, good selling technique. Not surprised it got a good auction price.

And by the way Frog, I do bring a set of powered speakers with me whenever I travel so that I can listen to the empeg in the hotel room. Doesn't everyone?

It's higher than I remember seeing before. I bet it's related to the fact that for the first time that I can remember, there are [bold]no[/bold] empegs available on ebay. A tuner, and a couple of faceplates, but no empegs.

The question is whether this is a temporary Christmas related thing, or whether the quick-cash boys and the I'll-buy-one-and-sell-it-if-it's-not-for-me types have finally sold their units, leaving only the true believers.

Yeah, a nice listing and showing the complete contents of the package was a real seller too.

I still personally think the 60gig model is of less value than a 30gig. Why? Taking out one of the two 30gig HDD's to do an upgrade really makes you loose. You have to buy a new drive of a size that not only replaces the 30gig but increases it as well. Then, you have a 30gig drive sitting around with no use (unless you are a shop or computer-phile or something).

Rock on 30gig's!!

ebay is a sellers market... the seller can totally win.
the demand is high and the supply is low.

But then, suppose you don't NEED to put another hd in the unit. 60GB isn't a microscopic amount of space.
