I've finally succumbed and bought a PS2 along with GTA: Vice City.
It's a good game but I'm terrible at driving in it! And I swear that GTA3 had less observant police in it...

I miss the classics, like original Zelda, Castlevania, Mega Mans, etc. for NES

So does everyone agree that MegaMan II is the greatest of the series?

The MegaMan series is one of the best side-scrollers to hit the NES (or any system... well, next to the Castlevania series).
Yes, MegaMan 2 was the best in the series. Well, considering that I only beat 1, 2, and 3; I played X for SNES; and I think I played 4, 5, and 6 for NES or something. The music in 2 was so well done. Hip Tanka (if I remember correctly) did the music and is The Man second only to the guy who does the Final Fantasy scores (which, as a trained musician, rock my world).
Haha, I used to draw Mega Man characters and Mega Man levels while in class in grade school. I had the style pretty down and thought up some cool characters. If I find the drawings, I'll post some scans.

In Mega Man 2, the best song is... I think its called Mecha Dragon? Its near the end of the game. That song is freakin' great.

It's a good game but I'm terrible at driving in it!
I find it harder to drive some of the cars than in GTA3, but I guess that's fairly accurate. I mean, 80s cars had lousy handling, yes?
If you snag one of the fast cars (like the Ferrari knock-off), then it'll handle like a dream.
Have you tried the motorbikes yet? The mopeds are quite good fun. The hell's angel style bike is great, but the performance bike (I don't remember the name) is superb, if a little hard to stear accurately -- I'm trying to get to the point where I can follow the line down the middle of the road accurately, so I can carve up the traffic at high speed.
And I swear that GTA3 had less observant police in it.
The problem I find is that there's a lot more policemen on foot, which makes it harder to jack cars without someone noticing.
You been chased by the police Ferraris yet?

On MegaMan X for the SNES did you ever do the secret where you could throw the fireball like Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter? It killed all bosses with one hit. Made the game way to easy but it was fun to hear MegaMan yell the "Hado-ken!" as he threw the fireball.

If you ever get a chance, play the Japanese release of Castlevania. Many of the religious overtones were removed in the American version.

i bought my ps2 for gta3 (right after the $200 price break) and i bought vc the week it came out. (and went to 4 stores before finding it no less) i actualy prefer the vc cars to the gta3 cars. they seem a tad faster on average and the sports cars are easier to find. they pjc 600 (superbike) it definatly my favorite. its like a little rocket, just make sure you point it in the right direction. on the subject of steering, above all, use the analog stick! my roommate is a die-hard d-pad user. im an older gamer and while i appreciate the d-pad for certian games (fighters, ect.) gta is not a game that it needs to be used on. i am a way better driver in the game than my roomate and i attribute it all to our controle style. you should also use the handbrake (R1) in the turns to swing your rear around quicker. other than that its just practice. anyway, hope you have fun, its a great game, after playing gta3 and vc all other games seem so limited in what you can do.

Anyone know if/when VC might come out for the PC? How long was it before GTA3 came out for PC after PS2?

From what I remember it was about 6 months afterwards? Not 100% sure though.
The GTA3 PC port was terrible though as it didn't run properly on a lot of systems.

I agree, but I think the problem is that it was such a system hog. You have to have a 9700 to play it at anything greater than 800x600 at an acceptable framerate.

Castlevania II had by far the best music score in a game. I have those song on my empeg. My fav, though was Bionic Commando, along with Contra, Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Tecmo Bowl, and Metroid.
