Right, i dunno if this is allowed, but i had a mail saying i can buy this morning. However, i cant afford it at the moment, i do want one and in a month or twos time i should be able to buy one. I take it if i dont buy now, i lose my place and have to start again? If this is the case, then i would considering swapping numbers with some1 3000 ish, if its allowed and if anyone wants it :)
Cheers

I think this 'queue position trafficking' is not looked favourably upon, and anyway, 3000's turn will come in 2-3 weeks, I hope.
Cheers!

I have been doing some research on the empeg, it's a sweet device, and I have decided that I WILL buy one. However, I can't afford one at this time, and I was wondering how long the wait in queue is right now? Is it over 4 months? If so, I will make my order today :)

The queue is up to 16000 now, according to Rob, but also accordingto Rob, empeg will have players in stock by fall. And by the way, 3000? I don't think it's going to take 2 to 3 weeks to get to number 3000. Didn't the announcement say that they had allready gotten to 3000? DiGNAN

I'm pretty sure that if you deffer (can't order now) that you don't lose your place.
For the person who was confused, the queue is not to recieve your player once ordered. The queue is to wait to be able to order, but they have only been taking orders when players were available to ship almost immediately.
They are supposed to run through the queue fairly quickly now. I think they expect to be through the queue of 16000 is about 2 months or less (of course they wont ship 16000 empegs, because of cases like yours).

They said that they'd INVITED up to 3000 to place orders, but they'll actually be shipping around 50 players/day starting aug 3rd... -mark

"The queue is up to 16000 now"
Oh my gosh!! You mean to tell me they are not even up to 3000 yet?!?! So, in other words, I will need to wait for Christmas of 2004 before I get my Empeg? Uhh, I think I have a better shot waiting for the RIO Reciever. Ha Ha... So is there anybody out there willing to sell a Mark II in about 2 months? Mark 1 is nice, but I need an RJ-45 connector.

But don't think that they have 1000 people before #3000 actually ordering players. I know that the queue is an invitation waiting list, but they only offer invitations if there is a player ready or nearly ready. just remember, not all 16000 people are actually going to order an empeg, and that goes for the previous deferers. Also remember that all Mark 1's went to people before 6500, so that should show you that it's going to go quicker than you think. DiGNAN

Shame on you BBS'ers for panicking the newbie.
No, Drew, the "queue" that's up to 16,000 isn't the number of PLAYERS that have to be manufactured in order for you to get yours. It's just the number of yahoos who stuck their e-mail address into the web form wanting to get information on when the COULD buy a player.
In practice, only a small percentage of those names actually respond and BUY a player when the time comes, so Rob's estimate of being able to clear the queue backlog by this Fall is realistic. If you hop in the queue now, you'll probably have one this Fall.

No, I'm pretty sure that once you're given an invitation to order, that invitation stands in perpetuity. You don't have to go to the back of the queue.
And besides, by the time you get around to ordering, there won't be a queue any more.

that invitation stands in perpetuity.I think you're right. Back when there was going to be "batching", I think I recall Rob saying if you deferred on one batch you'd have to wait for the next one. Actually, I seem to remember Rob giving a clear outline of how the defering process worked. Try doing a search to find out precisely what happens. DiGNAN

Tony- Hey, thanx for clearing that up for me!! With that information, I feel much more relieved, and I think I will go get a number. :)
Oh by the way, there is this product out there that claims to be better than the Empeg. My stomach hurt from laughing so much, but if you would like to check it out, goto Ebay (no I don't shop there, just look around) and put Empeg in the search field. From there it will take you to this device called a Neo. Or something like that. Friggin' piece-o-junk is what it is.

Oh yeah, someone mentioned that in the ICE section. About a week ago I was having serious empeg doubts, and was looking into other possibilities. When I got to that, and considered it, I realised that every day I would sit in my car and think about how much worse it was compared to the empeg (in short- I'd regret it). I'm back on the empeg wagon now, though. DiGNAN
