Thinking hard about getting one of these new cars, but the dashboard looks difficult to deal with. There will have to be some fairly advanced custom work done to get it to fit at all, much less look good in the process.

If you haven't seen the dash, check it out here.

You know you're an empeg-head when the criteria for buying a new car revolves around installing the Empeg.

You would have alot of work ahead of you. For starters, you'd have to destroy that cener console and stuff in the empeg. This one is not for the faint of heart - I test drove one a few weeks back and thought...hmmm, an empeg install would be a real PIA!

I dunno. What's under that flip-cover at the top center? If it's nothing important, maybe it's a good-sized spot for the player.

Be kinda neat to install underneath the flip cover. It's hard to tell from the picture but width might be a small problem. I think I'll try to stop at our local dealer and take a look. I'd like to test drive one anyway

That's where the (vertical) pop-up nav system goes. If you don't have the nav system, it's a 3" deep pocket, backed directly up on the air vent system, so not really an option. The flap also isn't big enough to accomodate the fascia.

I ended up with a Mercedes C230K instead. Much smaller and more fun (not to mention $5k less).

Thanks all for your help!

That leaves plenty for a _proper_ empeg install.
