Yes. I read the FAQ first. I'm having trouble upgrading my empeg MkII from 1.0 to 1.03 or 2.0b13. I am using MacOS X with VPC 5.0.4 and a Keyspan adapter. The upgrade seems to proceed fine until 'Selecting pump device' after which I get an error message: Error"Bad pump response to device select" occurred during stage 0x25. Even though the error message is extremely descriptive and helpful, I am unable to figure out what's causing it. I have played with all COM port related widgets available in VPC. I have also logged into the player with a terminal program and run the diagnostics. Everything seems fine there. Hhe player finds the HD perfectly fine and reports no other issues. And of course the player works nicely with the currenly installed 1.0 version. Can anyone suggest as to what I should try next? Selling the damn thing? I hope not.

Did you search the FAQ on "bad pump"? There's at least one thing in this FAQ entry that you didn't say you tried.

You could also find a friend with a PC and try to perform the upgrade from his machine.

If you've never replaced the drive cable, you might have a faulty one. email me for a replacement.
