I've got a Linksys WET11 wireless bridge plugged into an Empeg using the crossover mode. This WET11 is connected wirelessly to my router in the back of the apartment. The gateway for both devices is set to my router. Both have static IP's. *This Works*

However, I want to connect my WET11 to a 5 port switch (I assume in non-crossover mode) this switch then runs ethernet to the Playstation2, DirecTivo, and the Empeg. The WET11 then connects wirelessly to my router as before. The gateway for all devices is set as before, to the router. All devices have static IP's .. *This does not work* ... I can't ping any of the devices on that switch from across the wireless network (except for the WET11).

In theory and as advertised, this should work. However questions arise when they don't tell me how to configure each of the other clients on that switch. Do you think I should set my gateway to the WET11 for those devices?

Any input on a real network bridging setup with the WET11 is greatly appreciated.

I've had my WET11 hooked to my Audrey, a friends laptop, and a few other machines, both through a switch, all together, and individualy, directly connected. Both work just fine without changing any settings, except to change the WET11 to be x-over when connecting directly to a device.

You aren't setting it to be straight-through and then connecting it to a uplink port on your switch, are you?

Nope, there's not really an uplink port on my switch ... it's one of those funky new Netgear switches.

So you're saying as I have it now, it should work? I've noticed that several of my ethernet cables have been going bad, I wonder if a few that I'm using now are tainted. Strange, cuz I get link lights on everything.

Rule of thumb: Always try a different cable first.

Seriously though, I didn't change anything as far as settings and it worked fine both ways. I'm not at home, so I can't comment on how I have it setup. The only other thing I can think of is making sure the gateway and forwarding settings are correct (if it has those). I can't remember what is even in the thing to set, it's been a few weeks since I last changed settings.

I have a WEP11 that I have done the same thing with, Connected directly to a PC in the Garage or connected through a hub to the PC and The Rolling Empeg (not to be confused with the Stationary Empeg ). It works fine in both configurations with the swapping of a cable.

Yup, my last two available cables are inevitably the ones gone bad. Stupid cables! Now I got to find time to go to the damned store!
