I've researched and followed the instructions for trying to make my sony stalk a more effective tool (using b13 and hijack291) by editing the config file using jemplode.

At the end of the config I've entered the following:

[ir_translate]
KNext=Right
KPrev=Left
KVolUp=KnobRight,KnobRight,KnobRight,KnobRight,KnobRight
KVolDown=KnobLeft,KnobLeft,KnobLeft,KnobLeft,KnobLeft

I've also tried using:
[ir_translate]
KNext=Right.U,KNext.N
KPrev=Left.U,KPrev.N
KVolUp=KnobRight,KnobRight,KnobRight,KnobRight,KnobRight
KVolDown=KnobLeft,KnobLeft,KnobLeft,KnobLeft,KnobLeft

Both have been to no avail. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I can definitely see the entry at the end of the config file.

Have you tried monitoring the serial output when you boot your Empeg?
Hijack logs any problems with the IR Translation table to the serial port when it parses config.ini.

Try this, you may find you've typed something wrong.

I must admit I have not tried much stalk code translations - even so it should work, but as Mark is only human, he may have made a mistake somewhere that broke it.

But anyway, try monitoring the serial output on boot up to see if Hijack reports anything useful/obvious.

Have you verified that the stalk buttons are being "seen" by Hijack, by selecting "Button Codes Display" off the Hijack menu? If you have a way to monitor the serial port while it is in the sled, then try setting the ir_debug=1 and/or stalk_debug=1 options, in the config.ini Hijack section. It has been a while since I have tried this, but this should also show the raw ir and/or stalk data on the serial port.

I've not used jemplode, but have remapped my Sony stalk to make it more effective. It may help to take a look at my config.ini at this link.

I find my mapping to be logical, and have all buttons and twist of the stalk doing something ... try it and see what you think. One note: If you are running beta13 then the bottom stalk button does not work. It appears to be a bug introduced during beta13, since it worked before. You can see what I mean by pressing it while monitoring with "Button Codes Display". All buttons indicate a press and release code, however the bottom button now only indicates the release. Prior to beta13 it toggled shuffle on and off, but now nothing ... and Hijack isn't able to map it either. On my other empeg running beta11 it reports a press and release, and works properly. So there appears to lay the problem with that. Good Luck! ...Mark

Yep, I've verified that hijack sees the stalk on all of its buttons (BTW the shift volume+/- is the same as shift next/prev meaning that the Sony Stalk has 18 mappable buttons and not 20). I've also noted that there isn't a release code for the bottom button.
