I think in Hiack you can emulate the tuner. That is... fake-out your empeg into thinking the tuner is attached so you can check out the layout.

What your not getting to see there is the RDS and the RDS Text displays that you get.

The RDS gives the Station ID abve the signal strength meter, and the RDS text scrolls underneath.

I don't know what country you're in, but in the USA, RDS stations are a bit hard to come by. I have only twice seen cool RDS stuff scroll across the bottom of my screen. Once was in Canada and the other was in South Carolina.

Maybe its worth relocating to the UK, where RDS is standard, its certainly unusual to find a FM channel without it.

Trouble is, i can think of 1000 more reasons not to.

Yeah, they odd thing about that pic is that I'm tuned to 102.7 WNEW which has RDS for the call letters. Under normal conditions, WNEW-FM should have displayed. I guess I was getting crappy reception.

WNEW is the only station I can scan to with RDS support, and call letters is all I get.

Did you install the CD that came with the tuner? If you did, you shouldn't have done that. Your signature indicates you are running a newer version of the empeg software. The tuner comes with version 1.03 which does not support visuals in the tuner mode.

You must upgrade to 2.0 beta 13 for visuals to work in tuner mode. Also you must change the info screen from "Info:Radio" to some other screen.

I discovered by accident that they worked in 2.0b11; I had put on the radio as I went through the Harrisburg, PA area and just before I lost that station I pulled off into a rest area on the PA Turnpike and went to sleep for a bit. The radio had been on but on the strength meter.

I woke up, turned on the car, and had visuals. On the radio. Hijack had restored visuals, despite the radio having not been in visual mode earlier.

When I switched back to the player later I needed to restore visuals myself. I verified this when I got home by trying it again, and it still worked.

Can't say what version of HiJack, only "not the one I'm using now"
