Hi Guys

Quick question... does the Astra have a standard DIN? Or do I need to mess about with knives and plastic? If no DIN, is there a dealer kit available? Its a '99 Sxi (or might not be if I can't fit my empeg!). Any other problems I should be prepared for?

99 is that a blobby astra or the new anglely astra if it is the blobby astra then it is a piece of piss but a crap car.

If it is a Anglely one than i don't know

Talk to someone at a stereo shop just don't mention it is an empeg as that will only confuse them.

99 is the same shape as the current models AFAIK. Started in 98 till present.

Wasn't too sure when they started as my parents had a blobby astra god it was a horrible car.


I would think it should be pretty easy to get an empeg into it as i have seen quite a few cars in Max Pants etc with a after market head unit fitted.

Hell go down to halfords and see if you can buy an adapter?

It's a standard DIN. The Astra (new shape 98 onwards) actually has 2 standard DINs but they are not next to each other. Depending on your cars options, the CD holder/'small shelf with rubber mat' next to the heating controls is actually another DIN if you take it out.

I've had an Empeg installed in 2 Astras, a 99 2.0 SRi and curently an 02 Coupe Turbo in the 2nd DIN with the factory fit unit as Aux-in to the empeg via line level converters.
