Then most likely, either the drive cable came undone in shipping, or there's something wrong with your PC or its serial port. Try performing the upgrade on a different PC to rule this out. Also, it could be a problem with the serial cable, see if you can get a different null modem cable.

just learned a lesson about being thorough when trying to fix a tech issue. i did !everything! except checking my dc transformer. wow.... went to radioshak and i was in buisness.
