Not sure what to do about this, but here it goes: I have 97 Nissan Pathfinder. Now, I'm a relatively new driver, so this might just be something that happens to cars over time, and I just don't know it. Whenever I go over a bump of some kind, I hear a little squeaky noise that "feels" like it's coming from the suspension (I apoligize if this is incorrect, I do not know much about the internal workings of a car). The same noise also happens when my subwoofer is at a medium volume (enough to shake the car, but not so loud that I can't hear the squeak). I think it has gotten worse over time. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks!

okay to see if it is suspension get out of the car and you and a few friends wobble car/suv thingy on suspension and see if it squeaks that will try to eliminate suspension if it is interior trim then get some friends in the car drive around pushing various body parts to see if you can shut it up.

Thanks! I'll check it out. Hopefully it's something easy to fix... The squeaky noise is really getting annoying.

Well, it turns out that it was just a (somewhat odd) weight distribution issue. I moved the rather heavy box containing my subs closer to the back of the car. I haven't heard any squeaking since. However, it hasn't even been a whole day since I moved the subs, so we'll see if the noise stays away for good.

Okay, this noise is back. It seems to be an intermittent issue. I can't really figure out what's causing this to happen. Read my first post if you need a better description of this noise. It may be some metallic object rolling around somewhere, but it just sounds like it's from somewhere near the wheels. Any ideas? It's very annoying to listen music with any kind of bass now.

could you find out if this comes from the car itself?

if it comes when the car gets some shocks to absorb then it could be the bearing of the suspension or some bearing of the chassis, wheel bearing or whatsoever... try to find out if this sound happens when driving to some holes or if the suspension has to do a lot of work... if so speak to a mechanics - maybe to the nissan-factory if it's a known problem.

well - it can't be that the bass causes the same sound as the suspension does - except if thats just a part in the car coming to vibration at a special frequency.
try to find out from where this vibration comes. this can be a very difficult thing... it can be somthing behind the dash - maybe some cables or screws or whatever.. you'll need some luck on finding the reason...

As far as the bass part of it, I'm thinking that when the subs vibrate the car, it also makes the suspension (or something) vibrate, which causes the same noise as the suspension going over a bump (also causing it to vibrate).

if that's the same noise then try to find out from where it comes. let the bass beat and try to locate it... no other way to find out..
