I got my neon red today this morning in sunny scotland and i have given it a quick smell and it smells fine!

Strange it was sunny the day my lense turned up was it sunny the day yours turned up could this be the secret to sun in scotland.

For those that haven't done one yet is go and buy a dark strom lenses they are great and the service is up to empeg standards ( not sonic blue)

I've searched the forum for information on gels, lenses, convertibles, and direct sunlight trying to find a lense that I'll be able to see in direct sunlight.

What is it about the light blue that makes it work in sunlight, is it the color or just the "lightness". My interior lights are amber and nothing that works in sunlight seems to match.

It's both. Did you read this?

The natural color of the VFD is blue-green, ie the intensity of the light output is greatest in the blue-green part of the visible light spectrum. So if you use a filter that matches somewhere in this range, ie, light blue, or light green, you will get more light out of it than if you try to use a filter that doesn't, eg red. To get a red display from the VFD, the filter has to cut out all of the blue/green light, leaving only the red component of the light, which isn't very much. Amber is similar.

There are definitely at least 5. My brother is in Edinburgh and he has 1, and there's another bod somewhere east of Glasgow. I think he has 1 as well. Not sure of his name though.
