but my player before ocassionally would quit playing music and all the sudden produce this really high pitched frequency, and the player wouldn't respond at all. i had to pull it out of the docking sled to make it quit.

You would need to narrow down whether the problem was:

- Mis-wiring, faulty wiring, or a fault in the amplification.

- Fault in the MP3 file that was being played.

- Fault in the player software.

- Fault in the player hardware.

Any clues you can give us to help narrow it down?
