Not as dramatic, but I just successfully put an ion-powered probe (for Science!) in a polar orbit around Eve on my first attempt.

It's currently in an almost-perfect circular orbit (apoapsis ~= periapsis ~= 38,500 km). Gonna see if I can sort out the inclination and then drop it down to synchronous orbit next...
