Just to expound on Tony's answer, the ``hda: read_intr'' messages you're getting are coming from the kernel and are telling you that it's having a hard time getting any data off of the hard drive at all, regardless of whether that data is correct for the application trying to read it.

You're definitely having some sort of hard drive problem. This could just be a cable issue, and I'd definitely try to reseat all of its connectors first (contact David first if your player is still under warranty), but, if the sector numbers you're seeing are always the same, then I'll bet it's a problem with the hard drive proper.
