San Diego installer - 03/07/2001 02:35
Ken Potashner, our CEO, wants to get a Rio Car installed into his car in the San Diego area. If anyone can recommend an excellent installer in that area please let me know.
Thanks!

Indeed! This installation may determine the future of the RioCar!

is he going to get 1.03 or 1.1 out of intrest. Also does he know about those cool little hacks that we all know and love.

I suspect v1.03 as it has the best tuner support at the moment... and he's obviously managed to get hold of a tuner module prototype :)

Exactly, I was thinking as I was listening to his interview the other day "this guy hasn't actually used and empeg for more that two minutes, someone needs to install one for him".
(no offence intended to Ken, I expect he is a very busy man)

Re: San Diego installer - 03/07/2001 09:02
i don't think any of us realised how cool the empeg was and how able the thing was after at least a week of having the thing, hell i am 6 months down the line and it stills surprises me with new tricks.
It is kind of difficult to explain how alien this thing is in comparison to a cd player alot of people look at this ting and thing big multichanger with all its failings
hey rob has the ceo been shown round this BBs and how about him going to an empeg meet

I see we have never heard of 'inverse mushroom management' ...

No, inverse in this case refers to the direction of the methodology. So instead of them doing it to you, you do it to them. Works for 'Seagull Management' etc too.
But I see you are knowledgeable on the subject
.

spend me a ticket to san diego and I'll make a perfect install
I'm on vacation from 28.07.-03.07 so this would be a perfect time for install

As it happens I'll be in San Diego next week for the MP3 Summit, so if necessary I'll have to trawl through the yellow pages for installers. I'd much prefer to get a recommendation though!

I'm not in San Diego (I wish though...) but a bit of a trawl through the site dug up
this from Kit.
Another thread from MiloDC referred to an installer in San Diego but I don't think he'd have been recommending them (he didn't name them though, so they could have been the same people I guess, and MiloDC's post
was about 2 weeks prior to Kit's... )
Maybe Kit or MiloDC could help you Rob?

I just polled a car-absorbed colleague of mine in San Diego to see if he can offer a recommendation.
A small side note: in the course of contemplating some alarm upgrades on the new wheels, I visited a shop called Innovative Audio in Bellevue, WA (www.innovativeaudio.com) and got a tour of their shop and some works in progress (couple of Porsches, an F250, a big Winnebago). On the whole, I'd say that they are out of my price range, but I saw some incredibly nice work being done. Perhaps they could recommend some friends in SD.
I just finished installing Empeg, Kenwood head unit, new speakers and a custom-molded subwoofer box (ask me about my fiberglass matt splinters -- Ouch!) in the WRX and would venture to say that I probably did a better job than the local chain outlets that offer "free" installation. They do OK, but they pay scant attention to the idea that sombody may want to put things back the way they were at some point, or that you may want to continue to modify things.

Al & Eds's Autosound has 3 locations in San Diego. I have a friend who is a salesman at the Brea, CA store. They also did my empeg installation. I would recommend them, they did an excellent job.
