telnetd and password possible? - 05/06/2003 01:17
I've searched the FAQ and the BBS but found no answer:
Is it possible to set a password for the telnetd so I'm only able to telnet my empeg giving it a password? Even an IP-filter would be fine, just anything to protect it a little bit.

I don't think it's currently possible, look at
this post.
Perhaps you need to ask Trevor nicely if he'll put that in

I've seen this post, thought there was an update somewhere.
So there is probably nothing to do yet for securing it.
Just a try, maybe next time.

I'll get around to it soonish. But if anybody else feels like doing it then be my guest

It might be even helpful if you could implement a popup on connect with the IP-address of the telnetter. This would help as an first option because I sit next to my empeg and I would see then what happens. To create the popup is quite simple as seen in another thread.
Would be great if you could code this.
