Is totally ruining my weekend. Garrrr.

I'm headed for higher ground in the AM. Hopefully our buildings will be intact when I get back.

Our place is a bit vulnerable.

Just had to whine about it to someone and my wife doesn't want to hear it smile

Yeah, me too...I haven't even taken pictures yet smile

The nice thing about building it half out of garbage is that there will be plenty after the storm to re-create it (even better!)

Hopefully Ellis sleeps through it all.

I'm seeing Richard right over Belize now, hopefully all is ok with John. Until this past summer, I never fully appreciated the power of these storms. I then got to witness first hand what a tropical storm could do when Hermine passed over.

Landfall as Category 1, 20 miles south of Belize City, says NHC. It couldn't be a more direct hit frown

Direct hit is right. Our village took a lot of damage, but no loss of life.

I was up in San Ignacio for the storm. I arrived back in Belize City this morning to find that there was over four feet of water in our apartment. It's now drained out to just two inches of mud and almost everything we had there destroyed. My wife just cried.

I haven't been back to our property yet, but I'm expecting a lot of damage.

Ellis slept good. She's the only one. Even in San Ignacio we had pretty hard winds.

EDIT: video coming when I get too tired to clean anymore.

So sorry to hear about the damage, but at least everyone is safe. That's all that matters in the big picture!

Jon, I'm so sorry to hear about this. I hope you didn't lose anything that was irreplaceable.

Good luck with the clean-up. Glad to hear you're all ok.

I'm fairly certain after two days in it that storm sludge is 50% poop. Still cleaning...

Video doesn't want to upload over 256k DSL. bleh.

Only things we lost that weren't replaceable is that we left one of our "important papers" folders behind by accident. We lost all of our original birth certificates. We can get replacements, but they won't be the same. We've got all our passports and visas, so we should be ok until we can get replacements.

Of course my wife was going to have to get a new one anyway.

Yummy so is the other 50% something worse smile It's good you didn't lose much.

It's really windy here up north today must be from this storm I would guess ?

Unless you count most of our appliances, furniture and mattresses. frown

When you have about $150 of disposable income a month, that can take quite a while to replace. Fortunately, some friends have chipped in to help out with mattresses and a refrigerator and such so that we can actually live there again.

It's been a bit rough. If I didn't have a one week old and a 21 month old it would have been a lot easier. Thankfully, our landlady and her family have been extremely nice and allowed us to live with them, baby and all.

frown I am sorry to hear about your losses. I'm glad your family is safe, but sounds like things are going to be really tough for a bit.

They caught it and euthanized it yesterday. Sad accident for everyone involved.

Why do I get the feeling that Richard was just a left jab and that Tomas is the knock-out punch? Maybe I should return the new stuff and buy it again in a week or so smile

The long overdue video of our apartment.

Also, some cell phone pictures of our grounds at the Mission Base:
