Anyone recognize this Windows extension?

Anyone recognize this Windows extension? - 23/04/2009 18:48

I've got this stupid button showing up on my Windows titlebars. It seems like it's supposed to move the window to the next display to the right, except when it's at the rightmost display, it just moves it off screen. Wonderful.

Seems like it would be some multimon-like app, but I haven't installed any such thing. Anyone seen this before?

Specifically, I'm interested in getting rid of it.

Oh, and for the record, hovering doesn't produce a tooltip, and right-clicking produces the same context menu that would appear when right-clicking on any portion of the title bar.

There's a bunch of different products out there with a "Move To Monitor" button, but none of their screen shots look like that.

Is there anything in the add/remove programs screen that looks promising?

HijackThis should list it.

I thought that was the button to move Conficker's email process onto the next host...

No stand-out processes running?

How long has this been present? Have you updated your graphics drivers recently? Along with a likely feature for a third-party monitor utility, it's also something that a driver/control panel package from NVIDIA or AMD/ATI might install.

I'm not really sure how long it's been there. It only shows up when there's a second monitor, and I've not been using one.

It's unfortunately on a deployment image (I thought) I just finished.

My thought is that it was likely to be a video driver thing, too, but I can't find any option anywhere in the video driver config screens. It's an Intel GMA 4500MHD, BTW, with Intel's drivers.

How about reverting the display driver back to XP's "Standard VGA adapter" driver?

I don't think that would allow me to drive two displays.

That said, I did find an older version of the Intel display driver, and when I install it, it doesn't do that.

I suppose that, despite the fact that both Dell and Intel tech support told me that it wasn't their fault, I shouldn't have given up on that line of inquiry so quickly.
