Linux Journal and Mark Lord - 24/08/2006 00:33

Sept. Issue of Linux Journal, in the "What's New In Kernel Development" column, Zack Brown drops Mark Lord's name in reference to AXFS real-live systems development. I suspect he's refering to 'the Mark Lord' we all know.

Wow, a lot of time lag on those columns, huh!

Mark, you are again mentioned in the Nov. issue of Linux Pro Magazine, w. in Zack's Kernel News, regarding placing libata PATA support in the main kernel tree.

The article also indicates you were the initial creator and earliest maintainer of the IDE subsystem. That's impressive, I didn't realize you were contributing to IDE back in the '90s.

Well, now you know!

But all of my early IDE work (from 1992 onwards) pretty much predates modern hot-pluggable hardware and systems, and really needed a rewrite to accomodate them.

Which is what Tejun, Alan, and Jeff have been busily doing of late, the new "libata" subsystem. I help out too, but keep a lowish profile for the most part.

Cheers
