Upgraded BBS SW observations - 27/11/2005 14:15

If there's already a thread on this, I don't see it. So:

I have noticed two glitches:
  • click on smileys does nothing
  • When editing my post that contained [q] tags, they are replaced with corresponding HTML, which then stays visible (as, presumably, HTML is not permitted)
Minor things, but I thought Tom would like to know.

BTW, thanks for continuous effort, Tom!

I thought I was going to keep it at 6.5.2, but I think I'm going to roll back again, mostly to appease those who make long posts. The 6.5.2 added some new session stuff that can't be easially disabled, and it's already aparent the setting of 180 minutes isn't working properly. This is what results in the "Form no longer valid".

Since 6.5.0 and 6.5.2 can mostly coexist on the same database, I'll throw it on a test install later and try to tweak everything a bit more.

I hope the software is doing more authentication then just using the following html form variables or you may eventually run into some problems:
(from the reply page)

<input type="hidden" name="postername" value="Billy" />
<input type="hidden" name="IP" value="130.89.1.19" />
<input type="hidden" name="convert" value="markup" />
<input type="hidden" name="Sticky" value="" />
<input type="hidden" name="announcement" value="" />

Yes, it is.

Feel free to download the software on your own server and play with it though. I don't take kindly to any "experiments" here on this board.
