Best budget Windows box?

My uncle is asking me for a recommendation for a budget box. I've heard that e-machines is no longer an embarrasement since they've been bought by Gateway. The T6412 looks like a decent machine for $500 and it's nice that he can just walk into Best Buy and get one.

Suggestions? Is e-machines decent now or should I play the Dell coupon game?
