Maybe, since I own neo35.com and neo-35.com, I should point those domains to this site. Now that the Neo 35 is pretty much the premiere car MP3 player, this move would allow people in the market to see what they missed.

Drakino, would you mind if I did that? Also, If anyone could wager a guess at the legal ramifications (from SSI America), your input would be appreciated.

EDIT: Scratch this idea. After thinking it over, cross-contamination of cultures is not a good thing.

Re: Riocar.org Preview - 04/10/2001 17:21

I personally have a moral objection to redirecting Neo35.com to the RioCar.Org site.

For proper Karma, I think you should either:

a) Put up your own neo-related site at those domains.

b) Sell the domains to the Neo people at a reasonable price.

c) Redirect them to the official Neo site.

I somewhat agree that neo35 has no business being affiliated with empeg. However, I still have yet to do anything with those names.

I contacted Neo about them a year ago, and I never got reply. It went on ebay around the same time, and I think it ended at around $15 (I had a higher reserve). My thoughts are that Neo is waiting for me to let the registration expire, then snatch it. For a combined total of $30 per year, I think I can prove them wrong on that.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a domain squatter. I used to own a Neo 35 and noticed that the domain was never registered. I had some semblance of a car mp3 site on it for a while, but I thought that Neo wouldn't appreciate promoting other products on their domain (including the MK1).

For about 6 months the site points nowhere. Furthermore, I would give it up for a reasonable price.

Perhaps a reasonable compromise would be to put up a simple page with a prominent link to SSI first, then a link to riocar.org (not riohome.com) with a caption to the effect of 'And if you want really good car MP3 player...' (or later on, sadly, 'And look what other kids have, and you are too late to buy it' ). That way, those really looking for a Neo page are just a single click away from it, you provide SSI with some incentive to pay a reasonable price for their neglect concerning domains, and even educate SSI and their users on how car MP3 player UI should work (that's the only aspect of Neo they can realistically fix)...

Maybe you should redirect them to the companies register which shows TraxData filing for bankruptcy a few months after becoming the Neo 35 distributor. Not that I'm implying any kind of a connection!

(They did spin off a new company to sell these things though)

What About Logos ?

If you look at the screen shots, there is a "boot logos" link in the left-hand navigation bar.
