So, I've decided to not sell my empeg, and instead mount it in the scout (will be quite the chore, but I'm up for the task).

So being that I've not really been active in the last 2 months or so... whats new? did I miss anything huge?

Conversation-wise, things have been somewhat subdued, maybe due to it being the summer season for a vast marjority of the BBS.

There was the Euro meet (which I did not attend) and thus new alphas to play with, but to my knowledge they haven't been released "to the wild" yet. A few neat features like auto EQ adjustment, but nothing earth-shattering.

[plug] Oh, and I released a couple things. [/plug]

I havn't heard much talk about this, but there is rumor(?) that one version of the alpha software will allow streaming from the empeg to a Rio Receiver.

Actually I believe it's using the empeg as a thin client for a Rio Receiver. This mode of operation precludes using it as a music player as the player software is replaced in order to perform this trick, IIRC. MKII/IIa only.

No, it's the other way around.

Oh neat! So the Car Player becomes a RioReceiver! Sweet! Now, if it could stream internet radio stations, I'd be all set!

I'm sitting here looking at my empeg in my entertainment rack, probably the oldest device there, and it's out lived everything else there: 200 disk CD player, MD recorder, Dolby Digital receiver, HiFi VCR, etc, etc..

I think you can, with the proper server software (third party).

ahhh maybe now with the extra memory available, someone may write an empeg rio receiver server..

I haven't had luck getting the empeg rio receiver to talk to third party software. Then again, I can't get my real receiver to talk to 3rd party software without 3rd party programs being sent to the rio receiver as well.
