I'll start warming up my soldering iron. With any luck, it'll be here in time for our celebration of dead presidents, and I'll have some time to assemble it next weekend.

If the postman is still on holiday and out post arrives before 8.45 (rather than the usual 1pm!) I could take my iron/solder into work and have it done by lunchtime. Ponders.....

Okay, I'm in the bathroom and the postman delivers the letters but *he's carrying a box back to the van* - my car is parked up the hill so he assumed nobody was in. I scream and dash downstairs and run out the house (barefoot) and catch him before he drives off - whew!
I decide to actually work this morning so I had a quick peek before leaving. Sweeet! Everything is very well labelled I must say.

I arrived home to find a "failed delivery attempt" card from Royal Mail, so I shot straight back out to the sorting office to pick it up.
I've checked all of the parts which are very well labelled. Having downloaded the latest instructions yesterday I made a start at assembly. The instructions are the clearest of any kit I have assembled but my eyes were getting tired once I was about 70% through assembling the first board and I had just put the 2.2K resistor where the 22K should be. Having desoldered and corrected that I decided to leave it for tonight and carry on tomorrow. I don't want to rush it and make any more mistakes.
Thanks Patrick for a superb kit and sorry for my slight impatience !

Regular 'Royal Mail' airmail from the UK to the US can be variable...anywhere from 5-10 days seems be the norm. During busy times of the year (eg Christmas) those numbers change to 7-21.
I suspect that the delay is often in US customs, rather than in the UK.

I just got my tuner module here in Switzerland. Was number 25 on the tuner list.
And here is the story of my package from pca.
Because patrick didn't declare the contents of the package, the customs opened the package. But inside they didn't found a bill, but only a part list. Hehe
So they took a default value of 100.- sFr for the worth of the package.
In total I had to pay additional 17.60 sFr for the package. If they had known the exact value I would have paid about 28 sFr. (about 11 pounds)
BUT: The person at the customs hotline told me that in general (as many other countries do the same) they had to send the package back to the sender to declare the content of it. Patrick, I think it's better to declare the content of package in future. Had other people made similar experiences?
My offer is still valid. If anybody in Switzerland wants me to assembly the tuner kit, send me a private message.

Hmm.. I think the post office should have asked him to declare the value. Switzerland isn't a member of the EU right? So import duties etc. are charged.

That's correct. Switzerland isn't a member of EU.
At least here in Switzerland you have to declare every package that goes aboard. Else you can't send it.

Now that's downright odd. I distinctly remember filling out a customs sticker for that one, because it was the last one I posted and I hadn't remembered Switzerland required one until the post office guy mentioned it. The only thing I can think of is that he then didn't attach the customs label to the box. Strange.

The first tuner kit to me (for assembly) here in Canada arrived today, so the trickle to North America appears to be speeding up now.
I had previously advised tuner purchasers that import taxes to Canada might be as high as 15%, and sure enough, Canada Customs did not "disappoint" at 18.5%. I'll absorb some of that amount for the original purchasers when forwarding the assembled tuners on to the states, so nobody (other than me) will get any suprises from this.
But due to the high tarrifs, I will no longer be accepting additional tuners for assembly and subsequent redelivery outside of the Great White North. It just isn't worthwhile for all concerned. Those already in transit are fine, but no new ones.
