My question is about How to Upload a file to Empeg.

Example : How to Install DisplayServer to run From Empeg.

I tried with TTerm For Windows (No shame) and it works Fine.

But I installed the Kernel From Logosite with Displayserverr Included.

I tried and didn't find no executable Displayserver ????

I want to copy it myself on Empeg but How ?

I tried sz and rz with no success ....

Can anyone help me .

People use several methods to copy files to empeg:

- Rename the file so that it ends in .mp3 and 'sync' it using emplode (put it in a separate playlist that has 'Ignore as child' property set, so that the player does not choke on it). Log to empeg over serial port (or telnet if you have it running), quit the player, cd /drive0/fids (and later /drive1/fids if you have two disks), issue ls -aort, which will list (after a few seconds for sorting) all files in chronological order (if you have more installed - I don't remember whether it is in the default player installation - ls -alt | more is a bit quicker, as the newest file is on the top). Using creation date/time and size decide which file you are looking for, copy it to the intended place under real name. Use emplode to delete .mp3 version of uploaded file.

- Use zmodem transfer feature of the terminal emulator (e.g. HyperTerminal on Windows). For HT, just log on, cd to target directory, select Transfer->Send_file (NOT Send_text_file) and specify the file to be sent. If you use some other terminal emulator it might be necessary to start sz on the empeg before initiating transfer.

- Some users have installed and configured ftp and/or tftp servers on their empegs. I run ftp client on empeg and server on all my PCs (including Windows ones).

In all cases, don't forget that, generally, the file yust traxsfered won't have x (executable) bit set. Use chmod command to change that (chmod +x myprogram).

Also don't forget that you must mount the drives read-write before you do any of the file manipulation. And just as importantly, you have to remember to mount them read-only again before you reboot the unit or else you'll get errors.

Heh, I forgot about remounting.
My shell profile mounts the root r/w and asks about music partition and swap, and exit is an alias doing ro.... Thanks for vigilance, Tony!

Hi.

Your problem report is far from being helpful. Here are some questions you might want to answer to enable us to provide a real help for your problem.
What error message did you get when trying to "ro" respectively to "rom"?
Which command did you call exactly to try an fsck?
No, there are no options to be supplied to rw/rwm/ro/rom.
