The "Well, I put a song on it and played it, that's a sight more testing than the last couple of alphas got" release.

Although various bugs have been fixed, note that this is still an alpha release and the usual cautions apply; the current stable release is still v2.00.

As before, only the player firmware is new (not Emplode, Emptool, etc.).

The bug in earlier alphas whereby Transient Info mode worked more like Absent
Info mode is fixed.

For instance, it turns out that one of the visual modes (one of the oscilloscope ones, I think) causes the player to reboot constantly. If this happens to you, hold down "Visual" on the remote and it'll eventually get the message and go to the next one. I'll investigate that next week.

Hmm.... So I'm looking at last-minute features to add to my program, and I remember that at one time, there was a "normalisation" field in the dynamic data partition that the player used to calculate on its first time through a song. So I poked around, and it appears to me that this is no longer the case, or if it is, it's not in the place I'd expect it to be according to the emptool header file. I thought the story went that it was disabled until the bugs were fixed, but the value was still calculated. However, I don't see anything there in any of my tunes.

So, I'm wondering, has this idea been completely scrapped? I think it's the best approach to normalization possible, and would love to see it in play (once the bugs were worked out, of course.) My hope was that if the value is at least being calculated and written, emphatic could take care of the business of actually raising or lowering the volume to balance things out even if you guys don't plan on finishing it up.
