Oh I am so happy that I have been promoted from "stranger" to "newbie". I don't know when it changed but I just noticed it. My life is now worth living and I will stop killing kittens. The only thing that could make me happier is if the spelling is changed to "noobie" because it reminds me of "boobie" and I like touching those.

Whether or not it is a joke, anyone that owns a cat knows that no cat in the world would willingly let someone push them into a jar. So, even if the photo-shoot took only a few minutes, that's cruel.

There's no doubt that it's a joke. Why (how) could anyone think otherwise? Even without reading the guestbook. The whole site is written tongue-in-cheek.

But, those cats are all actually in those containers for the photographs. They are not digitally manipulated as far as I can tell. it's far too easy to put a small cat into a large glass jar when compared to trying to Photoshop the same thing (glass effect easy, distorting cat much easier to do in real-life(tm))

I saw that site sometime last year and thought it was mildly funny. I forgot about it by the end of the day. The spiked cat-carrier was at least as funny (if anyone else has seen that before).

Why would photoshopped kiddie porn not be okay? The laws preventing child pornography should be concerned with preventing abuse to children, not mandating morality. Now, I'll give you that the feasibility of actually producing faked child pornography without the use of a naked child is slim, but that doesn't mean that such things should be illegal if they were possible. JMO.

"Virtual" child porn was a recent topic on Cyber Crime. As you can tell from past posts, I watch a lot of TechTV.

I LOVE how uptight people blow everything out of proportion. Tell them a simple joke, the next thing you know all civil liberties are gone. Restricting any freedom is the same as restricting all freedoms.

I think smoking is a disgusting, useless habit. So I don't do it. But I don't give a rat's ass if other people do. Smoking also hurts other people, but it is not up to me to take this freedom away.

Now everyone repeat this and replace "smoking" with something they find objectionable.

Yeah.. good point. I think that sexually exploiding children is objectionable. But who am I to say that someone can't masterbate to photos of my 6-year old daughter's face superimposed on another body ala Photoshop? I think that bigotry and racism are bad too. But who am I to say that Neo-Nazis, anti-semetics and homophobes shouldn't have the right to incide violence by freely propogating their views and demonstrating (in detail) how to carry out violent acts? And I think that yelling "FIRE!!!" in a crowded movie theater is irresponislbe, and may logically lead to people needlessly being hurt, but what right do I have to tell someone that they shouldn't do that or even hint at the fact that they may have to own up to any harm caused.

I think that free-speach is the single most misunderstood civil liberty in the US.

I thought the whole kitten thing was funny because of the response it would receive by uptight people, not because of the kitten which is funny in its own Far Side way. Comparing this to kiddie porn is like telling a blonde joke and then some uptight bible thumper automatically thinks you must be a racist because they heard a racist joke once and it made them feel the same way. One has nothing to do with the other.
