Will that turn into Tony Fabris vs. everybody else? Will Tony still win? Wait, is Tony going to be there? I've got to meet "the man, the myth, the legend"! (and I didn't get an eVite, I don't think. but I want to be there.)

Wait, is Tony going to be there? Alas, no. I've only ever been to one Europe/England gathering of the Empeg crew. I hope to come back again someday, but this year probably won't be the year.

I'm unfortunately leaning more towards Tony's camp as well of not being able to come. The value of the dollar vs the pound isn't helping much, and July is shaping up to be a busy month for me at work and some family related things.
I'll definitely be up for at least saying hi via skype again though.

Recently I was at a convention in a hotel which had good wifi, and one guy was walking around holding a MacBook with iSight and Skype running, and asking people to talk to his girlfriend, it struck me as being such a good demonstration of how far technology has come in recent years.

So, exactly when is everybody arriving and departing?
Flying to Cambridge (London Stansted) is very cheap, but staying there is very expensive, so I'm anticipating a short stay. But then, I don't want to miss anything either.
I'd really like to book flights and hotels shortly. The hotel of my choice, Hotel du Vin (#1 at Tripadvisor) is already fully booked for the Empeg weekend.

I managed to get some kind of sabbatical of 5 weeks after the party weekend, planning to drive around on my motorbike for some weeks. Want to visit the Wye valley and Snowdonia, probably going to stay here for some days: http://www.bikers-retreat.comI think i remember Pcats was testing out this place last November, because RobV was thinking about using that as the base: http://maps.google.nl/maps?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&q=motel&near=Cambridge,+Groot-Brittanni%C3%AB&fb=1&view=text&latlng=52102662,39703,11740072024369949316#

We definitely do need to sort out a suitable base. Two years ago, it was really great having most all of us staying at the same hotel.

For various uninteresting reasons I decided to move house next month. I had been planning to host the party as my current garden is quite substantial and could easily accommodate a marquee and lots of guests. However the new house and garden are smaller, and I suspect would be less suitable. Therefore I'm going to give some thought to suitable party venues around Cambridge.
I haven't ruled out hosting at my new place - I'll get some more opinions on doing so over the next few weeks.
I would not book into the Cambridge Motel - it was convenient for my current house but not for much else.
